In total, Mr.Chambers worked with a staff of approximately 22 leaders and counselors, and 30+helpers. Having been the Principal of Morrison Christian Academy, and Seeker Christian International Academy, his duties also included working out programming, meeting with parents, dealing with conflict concerns among staff, and general discipline situations of campers. Mr. Chambers left Guting YMCA, after his duties as director finished in August, 2011,in order to return to Canada, his home country. Mr. Chambers possesses the skills and abilities to host a similar camp structure. He is approachable, understands daycamp dynamics, and has the charisma to lead this new venture in Canada. We wish him, and his bilingual staff God's best, for Community Hands Culture Camp. Sincerely Gilbert. Chin, Senior Executive, Wan Hwa and Ku Ting Branch, Taipei YMCA |
I now hold the same position that Gerry Chambers held, when he was the YMCA English Camp Director. I know first hand the demands that the job brings in running camps. We served together as senior team members, and understand each other very well.
Grandpa C (Gerry) is an energetic and passionate individual who always brings positive momentum toward people around him. Enthusiastic in education and skilled in management, Gerry is well organized with excellent communication skills, and is quick to sense problems and tackle them with a clear, logical mind. Further, his open-mindedness makes him a natural leader that draws people together to work as a team that forms a strong bond of brotherhood. The Motto of YMCA Ku Ting is Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility. Through a mentorship model, the Senior staff mirrored these principles to all staff, and then role-modeled them to campers and their families, alike. Mr. Chambers demonstrated this by bridging two cultures together for mutual benefit. Now in Victoria, B.C., Canada, he is more than able to provide a great environment for bilingual learning. Bottom line, children, youth, and teens will have lots of fun, while tasting a sample of bi-cultural learning! |
